About

About Mrs. McCuaig

I've been teaching the Art program at Selkirk Secondary School, since 2015. I have taught Art at both junior and senior high levels since 2003. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education, specializing in Secondary Art Education from the University of Calgary. I am also a practicing artist, who exhibits and sells my work.
As a teacher and an artist, I believe that arts education is important for all kids. Art gives students the opportunity to create, and to express themselves using their creative voice. It develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills, nonverbal communication skills and allows students to work at whatever level they are at.
As their teacher, my goal is to give students every opportunity to create, learn, and develop skills that will go far beyond the art classroom.
I also teach the Media Arts program and Computers 8 and 9, at Selkirk Secondary. Check out the Media Arts section on this site.

Here is a great picture of me in my twenties travelling around Paris, checking out one of my favorite sculptors work. ( Rodin 1908)
